I came to an awareness of God through a born again Christian experience. It seemed like a very personal relationship. In time though my mind could not reconcile the contradictions and the so called inerrancy of the bible. I fell away and became an atheist. But there was "something". I searched again and found that something or god as you talked about but words cannot describe it really. I only hope that Humanity does not make a religion out of the undefinable god.

thank you. I ache at what religion has done to faith in a higher self. I believe bad people used religion to oppress and hord from fear.If there is no fear...all we have is love. The source I call God.

Perfect. I have most recently come to this realization, but it took years for me to see religion for what it was. It is hard to express, but after watching so many "outwardly religious" folks fall on their face and live their lives opposite of how they advertise themselves to be. I am disgusted with man's political agenda called religion and how religion uses God.

Beautifully said. I have every reason to think there is a god, and every reason to think he/she/it won't be found in religion. I do think Atheism is a reaction to religion, but I've met very few Atheists that make any sense. They are as guilty of a closed mind as any fundamentalist X-tian. This was a good read (found it with google). Thanks.
